ABOUT THE ARTIST
Welcome, my name is Alberto Congosto-Nunez. One day I was walking in the park and when I looked down on the grass I began to draw pictures of insects in my mind with the various elements of nature's vegetation that were scattered all over. I then began to create works of art using “nature’s litter”as a source of inspiration. Remains scattered on nature's vegetation lies all around us in the form of pine-cones, delicate twigs, pine needles, various leaves, seeds and fruits and so on. These are the elements I use to create my pieces. I aim to keep my work 100% natural using a special fixing to hold my delicate creations together. I never use paints to colour my pieces, but instead I relied on the subtle colours found in nature. Depending on complexity each insect may take very long time before it is produced. It is their design and their natural beauty that really impresses me, but to be honest the real things do scare me a little! Some of my art work remain since the year 2003 as part of the entomology display of the world famous Oxford Natural History Museum. So far, I am regarded as the only person known worldwide that has created this art form. I have also exhibited my art work in other public places as widely known as the Oxford Botanic garden and I have been invited to appear on local television. After a great deal of demand from those who admire my art work, I decided to resurrect once more "dead vegetation" and delight everybody with my new creations and future exhibits making more insects and other creatures. I live in Oxford (UK), where I have developed my artistic ideas and my personal career. I hold a Bsc(Hons) degree in Psychology and currently I am specializing as a professional therapist. All work is copyright the artist, may not be copied in whole or in part. Alberto Congosto-Núñez © 2003.
